Team Overview

The team is planning the 2018 Arkansas FAITH Network summit with a focus on mental health. The purpose of the summit is to convene UAMS faculty, staff, and students with faith leaders and colleagues throughout Arkansas to promote strategies that enhance the development and sustainability of community-campus partnerships in an effort to improved mental health. The objective of the one-day summit is to provide a platform for action among the faith community to promote self-care, caring for others, congregational and community strategies to address emotional wellness, and mental health policy. Throughout the summit attendees will be guided through developing plans of action. Additionally, community leaders will be encouraged to develop neighborhood level "emotional wellness" groups (up to 7 people) to address the unique needs of their community with the assistance of leadership team. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for additional trainings such as Mental Health First Aid and Safe Talk. Exhibitors will be invited that provide mental health services and resources in addition to on-site depression screenings and referrals.
