Now recruiting AmeriCorps VISTAs to support overdose prevention in California

The Center for Health Leadership and Practice (CHLP) at the Public Health Institute is recruiting AmeriCorps VISTA members for a 12-month term serving with the California Overdose Prevention Network (COPN), a network of coalitions, organizations, and individuals working at the forefront of the overdose epidemic.

VISTAs help save lives across California through community-based projects such as: coordinating the distribution of naloxone, the overdose antidote; increasing awareness and adoption of safe prescribing guidelines among clinicians; creating interactive events to address substance use among youth; and much more. Learn more about our VISTAs.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Interested in starting or pivoting to a career in public health.

  • Self-starters who want to work on community-based projects.

  • Passionate about overdose prevention and reducing harm from substance abuse.

  • Willing and able to commit to a 12-month term of service.
